To apply for these support roles, please review the following and complete the appropriate form linked at the bottom of this webpage. Co-Hosts (Zoom support)
Requirements:
- No continuous sobriety requirements.
Experience:
- Well versed in online meeting practices
- Have a solid understanding of Zoom functionality and interface
A co-host manages the meeting backend functions, including:
- Let people into the meeting
- Identify people who only want to listen
- Mute mics as needed
- Alert convenor of people who may want to share
Convenor Mentorship w/Convenor (Convenor support)
Requirements:
- 3 months of continuous sobriety
- Vetted by the Online Meetings Regional Representative
- Completed LifeRing Mentoring Program form
Experience:
- Familiar with LifeRing fundamentals,
- Well versed in online meeting practices, and
- Have a solid understanding of Zoom functionality and interface
A vetted convenor mentorship participant with under 6 months of continuous sobriety may:
- Convene the meeting if an active convenor is in the meeting and willing to step in as needed
- Respond to chat questions
- Cut audio feed
- Cut video feed
- Remove participant from room if behavior warrants
Co-Convenors without Lead Convenor Present (Substitute convenor)
Requirements:
- 6-months continuous sobriety
- Vetted by the Online Meetings Regional Representative
- Completed Convenor Contact Information Form | Ongoing Online Meetings form
Experience:
- Familiar with LifeRing fundamentals,
- Well versed in online meeting practices, and
- Have a solid understanding of Zoom functionality and interface
A vetted co-convenor with at least 6 months of continuous sobriety may:
- Convene the meeting if the convenor is unable
- Respond to chat questions
- Cut audio feed
- Cut video feed
- Remove someone from the room if necessary
- Convene a breakout room
Alternate (Alternate convenor)
Requirements:
- 6 months of continuous sobriety
- Vetted by the Online Meetings Regional Representative
- Completed Convenor Contact Information Form

- Well versed in online meeting practices, and
- Have a solid understanding of Zoom functionality and interface
A vetted co-convenor with at least 6 months of continuous sobriety may:
- Convene the meeting if the convenor is unable
- Respond to chat questions
- Cut audio feed
- Cut video feed
- Remove someone from the room if necessary
- Convene a breakout room
Convenor (Lead convenor of a LifeRing meeting)
Requirements:
- 6 months of continuous sobriety.
- Vetted by the Online Meetings Regional Representative
- Completed Prospective Convenor Information Form
- Adhere to the LifeRing Meeting Charter
Experience:
- Familiar with LifeRing fundamentals,
- Well versed in online meeting practices, and
- Have a solid understanding of Zoom functionality.
A vetted convenor with at least 6 months of continuous sobriety may:
- Take over an existing meeting
- Act as alternate convenor for an existing meeting
- Convene as a substitute for an existing meeting
- Start a new LifeRing meeting
- Mentor potential convenors
Definition Key (what do we mean)
- LifeRing Fundamentals: 3-S Philosophy and convening best practices outlined in HWYW Convenor Handbook. A free, older PDF version of HWYW can be found here.
- Sobriety: Complete abstinence from all alcohol and non-medically prescribed drugs
- Continuous Sobriety: The amount of time without a recovery misstep
- Vetted: Has completed the appropriate co-convenor/convenor forms AND has met with the Online Meetings Regional Representative for final approval
