2025 Keynote Speaker | Jill Amos!
Get Ready to Be Inspired: LifeRing Welcomes Keynote Speaker Jill Amos!
LifeRing is thrilled to announce that Jill Amos, MHR, will be our Keynote Speaker at the 2025 Annual Conference! Jill's remarkable journey is a powerful testament to the very principles we hold dear in LifeRing: self-empowerment, mutual support, and the unwavering conviction that personal recovery is truly within reach.
Jill's career has been dedicated to championing adults, children, and families grappling with mental health and substance use challenges. But what truly resonates with the LifeRing community is that Jill walks her talk. As a woman on her own mental health recovery journey, she understands the path firsthand and expresses immense gratitude for the connections she's made along the way, recognizing how these individuals have shaped her.
Jill's story is a powerful testament to profound courage and the strength of peer connection. She began her career as a direct-care, community-based case manager, supporting adults with severe mental illnesses at the State of Oklahoma’s Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Witnessing her clients' daily tenacity and strength didn't just inspire her; it gave her the courage to confront her own mental health challenges. This pivotal realization — "If they can do it, I can, too!" — became her mantra, empowering her to seek help from a psychiatrist and therapist. It's a sentiment many of us in LifeRing can deeply relate to.
If they can do it, I can, too!
Jill's dedication didn't stop there. She became a fierce consumer/patient advocate, diving into mental health law and visiting treatment centers across Oklahoma. These experiences forged invaluable relationships, leading her to significantly expand the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification program. Jill wasn't afraid to be "out" as a woman in recovery, bringing together diverse individuals – from brave executive directors and therapists to nurses and case managers – to train alongside their peer recovery support specialist colleagues. This truly embodies the spirit of "peer to peer" that is so vital to our success in LifeRing.
After eight impactful years in the PRSS program, Jill leveraged her peer support expertise to manage the Oklahoma State Employee Assistance program during the incredibly stressful years of Covid-19, proving that human connection and peer support are vital in all walks of life.
Today, Jill is making waves at C4 Innovations, a mission-driven organization focused on social change and equity in behavioral health, recovery, wellness, and housing. She continues to connect with people nationwide, constantly learning and growing in her understanding of how to help others thrive.
Jill lives outside Oklahoma City with her partner, stepdaughter, a cat named DOT/Dottie (Destroyer Of Things!), and two playful dogs, Jupiter and Kya. We even hear her furry companions might make a guest appearance during her Keynote Address – a true testament to the real-life integration of recovery!
We can't wait for Jill to share her wisdom and insights!
